BidStaff – Proposal Assistant for Upwork, Freelancer.com, PeoplePerHour and DesignCrowd

INSTALL (until it is on the Chrome Web Store)
FIRST TIME ONLY (1.5.0): if an older BidStaff is installed, remove it on chrome://extensions first. From 1.5.0 the extension has a fixed ID, so updates replace it and keep you logged in.
1. Unzip bidstaff-extension.zip.
2. Open chrome://extensions and turn on "Developer mode" (top right).
3. Click "Load unpacked" and pick the bidstaff-extension folder.
4. Pin BidStaff (puzzle icon → pin). Open a job (Upwork, Freelancer.com, PeoplePerHour or DesignCrowd) and click the BidStaff icon.
On Freelancer.com, PeoplePerHour and DesignCrowd the browser asks you once to allow BidStaff to read that site: press Allow in the panel.
5. Log in with your BidStaff username and password (admin or team member). The extension works with paid plans and during the card trial; free accounts use the website and are asked to start a trial or pick a plan.

WHAT IT DOES
- Job page: client check (rating, hire rate, total spent, hires, average paid per hire, payment verified)
with a Best fit / Maybe / Skip verdict, match score for the chosen profile (1 check),
proposal + screening answers in your tone (1 credit), Copy. The apply is saved to Tracking
with job link, profile, connects, budget and client details.
- Profile page (admins): "Read this profile" → check → "Add to BidStaff" (Library → Profiles).
- Proposal page (admins): "Read this proposal" → saved as a winning proposal; sample links
in it are added to Samples with keywords.
- Client rules (admins): menu ⋯ → Client rules, or BidStaff → Settings → Chrome extension.

OTHER SITES (1.2.0)
- Works on jobs and projects on Freelancer.com, PeoplePerHour and DesignCrowd: BidStaff picks the job out of the page (free, no credit), checks the match, and writes the message for that site.
- Client checks (rating, hire rate, spend) are Upwork-only; the other sites show the match score only.
- If the extension does not recognise a page address, press "This page is a job" in the panel.

PRIVACY / MARKETPLACE RULES
- Reads only the page you have open, when the panel is open. No background crawling.
- Never clicks, types, submits or applies on any site. You paste the proposal and press Submit yourself.
- Never asks for or stores your marketplace passwords. Data goes only to your BidStaff site.

CHROME WEB STORE (permission notes for the review form)
- sidePanel: the extension UI is a side panel.
- scripting + host www.upwork.com + freelancer.com, peopleperhour.com, designcrowd.com: read the text of the page the user opened, on demand.
- storage: keeps the BidStaff login token and chosen profile on this computer.

1.4.0: Invite replies. Open a client invitation on Upwork (for example /nx/proposals/interview/uid/...), open the "Invite reply" tab, check the client name, message and job, and write the reply. Paid plans and card trials only; free accounts can still add profiles, samples and winning proposals and check job scores. Modern bundled fonts (Inter, Plus Jakarta Sans); nothing is loaded from the internet.

1.5.0: Fixed extension ID. Updating no longer adds a second BidStaff and no longer asks you to log in again.
HOW TO UPDATE FROM NOW ON: unzip the new version over the SAME folder you loaded before (replace the files), then press the reload arrow on the BidStaff card in chrome://extensions. Your login, chosen profile and settings stay. Do not pick a different folder, and do not remove the extension (removing it clears the login).

1.5.1: Freelancer.com, PeoplePerHour and DesignCrowd are now optional permissions (the panel asks once, when you first open a job there). Only Upwork is requested at install, which makes the store review faster.

1.6.0: The panel no longer re-reads the page on its own. Opening the Upwork apply page (or any other page) keeps your proposal and answers on screen. Press the light-green "Load this page" button at the top to read the new page; closing and reopening the panel also reads the page you are on.
